Co-Teaching Practices that Improve Student Outcomes: The Six Approaches are Not Enough

Although co-teaching has become a common option for providing special education services, it does not necessarily lead to student success. But it can! This session focuses on specific practices and techniques, gathered from co-teachers who have improved student outcomes, that, when added to the six well-known co-teaching approaches, foster student learning. Join a lively discussion for answers to your questions.

Participants will be able to:
    - Analyze current co-teaching practice, including the six approaches, classroom structures, and instruction, to identify elements in place and those to improve or expand.

    - Apply structural/environmental co-teaching practices that contribute to improved learner outcomes.

    - Embed specially designed instructional techniques (rather than content support or accommodations) in co-taught lessons.
